The Chief of Bagliga in the Tamale Metropolis, Naa Haruna Sumani has raised concerns over the recent enskinment of a chief to Bagliga Dakpemyili by the Paramount Chief of the Banvim Traditional Area.
The Chief said the enskinment of the chief to the area to control the affairs of the Banvim Dakpemyili Township is not only worrying but also undermines his authority because he has traditional control of the area.
Naa Haruna tells Tudu Lahabali Kpana that situation is causing unnecessary tensions in the area.
He said even though he is under the jurisdiction of the Banvim lana, he is the only traditional authority with powers of enskinning a priest in the area.
He said as a community ruled by priests, he cannot understand why a chief will be enskinned to perform the same duties of the priest, adding that the move will cause a parallel authority in the Bagliga Dakpemyili Township.
Naa Haruna appealed for an amicable solution to the problem, calling on the intervention of the King of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II.
Assemblyman for the Bagliga Electoral Area, Abubakari Imoro appealed to the youth to remain calm whiles the elders of the land move to find a lasting solution to the matter.
He also urged the youth to avoid any form of activity that would jeopardize the peace and security of the community.
Meanwhile the Banvim Palace was not immediately available for a response.
