Some irate youth have vandalized the Tamale Area Office of VRA/NEDCo and the Lamshegu Divisional Police Command.
At the VRA/NEDCo Commercial Office, the irate youth destroyed the glass doors and windows of the building and smashed the windscreens of cars parked within the offices of the power distributor.
The youth also attacked the Lamshegu Police station with stones and other projectiles, destroying the glass windows and doors of the station.
The Police Service is yet to comment on the matter, however police sources say no arrest has been made.
The irate youth were part of a peaceful demonstration, organized by some Youth chiefs in Dagbon in protest against what they described as the recent spate of police brutalities in the Tamale Metropolis.
“What started as a peaceful demonstration, soon turned violent when the demonstrators got to the Divisional Command as some of them started pelting the police station with stones” an eyewitness, who wants to remain anonymous told Justicefmonline.com.
“But for the timely intervention of the youth chiefs, things could’ve gotten worse” the eyewitness said.
Local radio station, Diamond FM also reported that from the VRA office, the demonstrators moved towards the Northern Regional Police Headquarters, where the Police had mounted barricades before a military contingent was called in to stop the angry demonstrators.
