Members of Parliament (MPs) constituting the Dagbon Caucus in Ghana’s parliament have assured chiefs and people of the kingdom of their readiness to use their influence to ensure the kingdom succeeds.
They made this assurance when they graced the 2021 Damba Festival at the forecourt of Gbewaa palace today, October 25.
Speaking on behalf of Majority MPs in the August house, MP for Gushegu, Lawyer Hassan Tampuli told Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II that and his elders that their political coloration does not affect their relationship as people representing Dagbon.
“We don’t have difference within us in parliament as MPs representing Dagbon. The progress of the kingdom should be our preoccupation. And we will do anything within our power to ensure Dagbon succeed. And for this reason, we are contributing 100, 000 GHC as MPs to the Dagbon Development Fund”, the deputy transport minister said.
“We will also see to it that venue the Dagbon Traditional Council has been using for it’s meetings is renovated so that our chiefs do not go all the way to Tamale anytime they have a meeting”, he added.
Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu on his part praised the King of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abukari II for his commitment towards the peace and development of the Dagbon Kingdom.
He noted that the King, since ascending the Dagbon skins have prioritized the development, hence the need to be supported to actualize his good ideas.
“He has done two significant things in the last two years, apart from initiating the Development Fund, he’s also initiated a review of the Dagbon Constitution that will recognize the territorial chiefdoms of Dagbon, within the Dagbon State”, the Tamale South legislator told the garthering.
“We only can be proud that the Ya Naa is reviewing the constitution for it to respond to the contemporary challenges and opportunities that exist within Dagbon”, he further stated.
