The Member of Parliament of Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has hinted that all nine New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament in the Northern Region are “solidly behind” the re-election bid of NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Bantima Samba.

According to him, the popularity and virtue of the NPP Chairman is growing, considering his hardwork and efforts in the 2020 General Election.

“Farouk Aliu Mahama, other MPs including me, Habib [Tolon MP] and all those MPs I have mentioned are solidly behind Chairman Samba. Why will a politician want to change a winning team?”

“ A team that has consolidated the efforts of the party both presidential and parliamentary [Elections], a Chairman that has increased our vote, a chairman that is consistent, a chairman that has the can do spirit, a chairman that always gives, a chairman that reach out to his people… I think chairman Samba has done a lot for the people of Yendi and the people of Northern Region and as a leader, we think that the MPs, myself and other MPs are solidly behind Chairman Samba” the Yendi MP told Tamale based Diamond FM in an interview on Tuesday January 4.

His declaration of the support of the NPP Northern caucus to the NPP Regional Chairman could be a big blow to the chairmanship bid of Alhaji Inusah Dagomba Boy who many believed had the strong backing of some of the NPP MPs in the Northern Region.

Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama also hinted that very soon, the Northern caucus of the NPP in parliament will “reciprocate our support through a medium that everybody will understand”.

He added that having Northern caucus meetings, he has read the minds of the MPs that they all support the re-election bid of the NPP Northern Regional Chairman.

The MP said even though they do not have a problem with “whoever that is out to contest”, they are looking up to Chairman Samba to lead the party in the region.
