The Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has supported the Tamale based soccer legend, Coach Alaala Cylla, who has been sick for some time now with a cash donation of 20, 000 Ghana cedis.
This was done on his behalf on Thursday October 28 by Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Somed (Obolo) to coach Alaala Sila and family to take care of his medical and health needs.
Coach Alaala’s condition became public when Sheik Ahmed Badawi shared the former’s heartbreaking pictures on Facebook calling on people to help him.
“Today I shed tears upon tears when I paid a visit to the once strong, agile, athletic and joke filled spirit of my bossom childhood friend and brother Alaala Cylla at his home in Tamale. I could not look direct to his face. He is now a pale shadow of himself and I could not control my tears. He fell sick for almost one and a half years now and I must confess that he has seen hell with this ailment”, he wrote.
“Today, Alaala is a pale shadow of himself and needs the attention of the Ghana football Association, the good people of Tamale, The MPs of Tamale and all those who enjoyed his weekly radio programs in Tamale. Alaala is seriously sick and needs attention to bring him back to his former self. Over to the politicians especially our God fearing Vice president, Lawyer Aduna, and other well meaning personalities of the North”, Sheik Ahmed Badawi added.
According to him, the coach has done so much for the Ghana Football Association ; he served the players of the Black Stars, the people of Tamale and how he groomed young talents to stardom.
Alaala Cylla was one of Ghana’s great football exports from Northern Ghana in the 1980s.
He plied his trade in the middle east before returning to Ghana to begin his coaching career.
He was also a football pundit on radio and featured regularly on Radio Justice’s Global Sports Arena programme.
