The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mohammed A. Baantima Samba donated an amount of 720,000 Ghana cedis to all the constituencies in the region.
Each of the 18 constituencies in the region received 40,000 Ghana cedis each in what the NPP Chairman said was a gift of appreciation to the constituencies, for helping the NPP to maintain its nine parliamentary seats and increase its presidential results in the region in the 2020 elections.
He said the 40,000 cedis to each of the constituencies is specifically for the various constituency executives for working tirelessly to improve the votes of the NPP in the region.
The NPP Chairman made the presentation at the annual delegates conference of the party in the Northern Region, held in Yendi and Nyankpala respectively.
Many have accused the NPP Chairman of trying to buy the votes of the executives.
However Acting Northern Regional Communications Director of the NPP, Ibrahim Mohammed Sheriff told Mumuni Yirifa Yunus on the Super Morning Show on Wednesday the donation made to the executives was out of the chairman’s own benevolence in appreciating the work of the Constituency executives.
The chairman is pleased with the executives’ performance in the last election and has made this donation to recognize their efforts, Mr. Sheriff added.
