The Chief of Choggu in the Sagnarigu Municipality, Naa Muhammadu Alhassan has advised the Volta River Authority to involve traditional leaders in their operations in the region.
Choggu Naa Mohammad stated that when the company works hand in hand with the traditional authorities, the company’s operations will face less challenges.
The Choggu Naa was speaking when the Paramount Chief of the Gulkpegu Traditional Area, Gulkpe Naa Alhassan Abdulai and his elders paid a courtesy call on management of VRA/NEDCo today, following the recent attacks on its commercial office in Tamale.
“I wish they (VRA) would notify the chiefs whenever they plan to conduct operations in the communities” he said.
The Chief of Gulkpegu Traditional Area, Abdulai Alhassan stated he is working closely with other chiefs in Tamale to engage the Regional Security Council in order to bring long-term peace between the youth and the VRA.
It will be recalled that some angry youth destroyed VRA and Ghana Police Service properties in Tamale in response to a viral video of a police officers abusing some people in Tamale.
The Inspector General of Police, COP George Dampare has since interdicted the four officers who were engaged in the assault.
