A coalition of youth groups affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Choggu West Electoral Area of the Tamale Central Constituency has accused the Regional Executives of the party of biasness.

The group stated in a press conference on Thursday morning that the indefinite suspension of the Choggu West Electoral Coordinator, Mr Dawuda Jentuma is unfair, erroneous, and wicked.

Mr. Dauda was suspended by the Regional Executives of the party for allegedly campaigning for Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen as the party’s next flagbearer despite a ban on all forms of campaigning.

According to the youth groups, his suspension was unjust because other prominent members of the party have declared their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s next flagbearer but have not been suspended.

According to the group, prominent members of the party who violated the same rules for which their coordinator has been suspended include the Northern Region Chairman, The Karaga MP, Gushegu MP, Tolon MP, among others.

“Since the announcement, however, a number of high–ranking members of the Party have openly declared support for the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia, who has left nobody in doubt of his determination to contest for the party’s Flagbearer-ship.” the statement said”

Prominent among these party officials are a Deputy General Secretary of the party, Mr Obiri Boahen, the Northern Regional Executives led by chairman Samba, the first Vice regional chairman of Ashanti, Mr. Kwabena Nsenkyire, the Member of Parliament for Karaga Hon Amin Anta, the Member of parliament for Tolon Hon Habib Iddrisu and Hon Farouk Mahama, MP for Yendi and some others.” it added

The group therefore urged the executives to immediately reverse the suspension and retain the Choggu West Electoral Area coordinator so that he can continue his work.

“We conclude that the indefinite suspension of our dear Coordinator is unfair, it’s erroneous, it’s wicked and is anti NPP.

We therefore appeal to the leadership of the NPP to rescind that decision for the sake of justice, peace and harmony in the party.”
