Two of the three apparent heirs of the Yendi skin, the Paramount Chiefs of Savelugu and Mion have been given two juicy appointments by President Akufo-Addo.
Naa Bakpem Yoo Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani, Paramount Chief of the Savelugu Traditional Area and former Regent of Dagbon has been appointed to the Board of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) while Mion lana Abdulai Mahamadu, Paramount Chief of the Mion Traditional Area has been appointed to the board of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo).
Where as Naa Bapri Mion lana was sworn in on Tuesday alongside five other members, led by Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwah as the Board Chairman, Naa Bakpem Yoo Naa is yet to be sworn.
The two revered Paramount Chiefs have been highly praised for reaching a compromise to end the decades long Abudu and Andani Chieftaincy conflicts, leading to the selection of a new Yaa Naa in 2019.
The Yoo Naa, from the Andani gate, was the Regent of Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani while the Mion lana, from the Abudu gate, was the Regent of Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai.
The Mion lana and the Yoo Naa are both occupying two of the three gate skins to the Dagbon throne, the other being Karaga.
President Akufo-Addo while speaking with Mumuni Yirifa Yunus on Saturday had reaffirmed his position that, greater days lie ahead of Dagbon.
The President who showered praises on the Yoo Naa also re-emphasized his commitment to ensuring lasting peace and tranquility in the Dagbon State.
The appointment of the two children of former Yaa Naas is expected to go a long way to help the oldest kingdom of modern day Ghana rediscover its lost image.
