The King of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II has asked the Ghana Police Service to stop any further moves to arrest persons who were allegedly involved in the attacks on the Lamashegu Divisional Police Command and VRA/NEDCo Commercial Office in Tamale.
The powerful Dagbon ruler says he is finding amicable solutions to the impasse.
He has also urged management of VRA/NEDCo “to consider the social and economic importance of their services and restore their same as soon as possible”.
A statement issued on Friday in Yendi underscored the economic implications of the decision by the Senior Staff of NEDCo to withdraw their services in the Tamale Metropolis, appealing to them to resume full operations.
“The devastating economic consequences of withdrawing their services should not be lost on them. He therefore appeals to them to resume work to alleviate the suffering of the people and their economic activities” the King stressed.
Yaa Naa Abukari II asked residents of Tamale and other parts of the Northern Region who engage in power theft, to stop the practice.
He also urged the youth to “exercise restraint and desist from any action that would disturb the peace of the Tamale Metropolis”.
