The Member of Parliament for the Tamale Central Constituency Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala has broken the grounds for the construction of a clinic for Changli in the Tamale Metropolis.

The project is being undertaken by Qatar Charity Foundation, and is scheduled to be completed in three months.

The project when completed will serve several other communities, including parts of Hausa Zongo, Bulpiela, Dagbandabi fong and Dohinaayili.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, the Tamale Central MP Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala said the constituency do not have enough health facilities.

He noted the Changli clinic is part of three to be constructed and pledged to take some bold steps to improve the health infrastructure of the constituency.

“I know that we don’t have enough health facilities. In fact, I had an interaction with the Metropolitan Health Director and he told me that Tamale Metropolis needs a minimum of fifteen CHPS Compounds and other health facilities but they could boast of three. So I knew that provision of health was going to be a challenge” Mr. Murtala disclosed.

The former Deputy Trade Minister, however indicated land has become a challenge in undertaking such projects in the constituency and is so grateful for the benevolence of the Changli Chief, his elders and other stakeholders for facilitating the processes to secure the land for the construction of the clinic.

“Whatever the challenge is, we can still find some spaces. Who would have imagine we will get a space in Changli. You need to have a lot of lobbying, you need a lot of understanding and some relationship with the traditional authorities. In fact if you observed this one, we were with the chief 24 hours. Sometimes you need to let them understand. I didn’t seek this land to put up a house, store or something; it is the benefit of the community” Mr. Murtala lamented.

The ceremony attracted Chiefs, Imams, opinion leaders and political party representatives in the Changli electoral area.
