The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan S Suhuyini has constructed two Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) centers at the Kanvili Tuunayili and Taha Health Centers in the Sagnarigu Municipality.

This is part of efforts to eliminate the delivery of healthcare under trees and shades in the constituency.

The two facilities have been providing antenatal services under trees and shades due to the lack of space there.

During the rainy season, their services are usually disrupted because they are unable to operate under the trees when it rains.

The new Reproductive and Child Health centers at the two facilities are expected to end the trend and help improve the delivery of antenatal and child weighing services to residents of the two communities.

It was funded by the MP through his share of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Fund.

The MP told journalists at a ceremony to commission the facilities for use on Monday June 27,that aside improving the quality of health care delivery in Tuunayili and Taha, the facilities will help protect the lands from encroachers.

“The importance of these facilities is not just the health that it will help provide, the fact that we will contribute to the reduction of maternal and infant mortality but also improve Antenatal Care.” he said.

“Again some of these projects are securing the Lands that are meant for the construction of health infrastructure in these communities. But for those structures those lands will be encroached upon by people and it becomes difficult in future when these institutions need to expand.” Alhaji Suhuyini added.

Meanwhile, the MP has also handed over a staff bungalow to the Ward ‘K’ Health Center.
