Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu constituency in the Northern Region of Ghana, Alhaji ABA Fuseini has denied claims that Dagbon MPs snubbed the Dagbon Traditional Council’s annual meeting on October 2, 2021 in Tamale.
The Sagnarigu lawmaker on Monday told Mumuni Yirifa Yunus on the Super Morning Show on Radio Justice that he had not received any invitation letter from the traditional council inviting him to the meeting.
“I have a great deal of respect for traditional authority; my father was a chief, therefore it is not true that we snubbed the important meeting but we were not invited”, Hon. ABA stated.
The Registrar of the Dagbon Traditional Council, Abdul Fataw however insisted that all members of parliament in the Dagbon Traditional area were invited to the meeting.
“We invited all the MPs to the meeting either personally or through their party executives. Only Gushegu MP and Taletale MP were present at the meeting” Mr. Fataw told Mumuni Yirifa Yunus on the Super Morning Show on Monday.
He added that MP for Yendi constituency, Hon. Faruk Ali Mahama who is currently out of the country was the only MP who called to tell them why he couldn’t make it.
Dagombas on social media have bashed the MPs for snubbing the DTC meeting with many calling on them to render unqualified apology to the king and members of the Traditional Council.
