An Aspiring National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Amoako Twum has launched his campaign in the Northern Regional capital Tamale, with a pledge to turn the region into a strong hold of the party.

Mr Amoako-Twum who is a former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority said the NPP can win up to 80percent of Parliamentary seats and popular votes in Presidential Elections if the right leaders are chosen to lead the party.

“If you ask me, I see Northern Region as the birth right of the NPP. I believe that if we begin to remind ourselves of this fact and project the truth, the NPP will dominate the Northern Region with more than 80% of the preliminary seats and of presidential votes… We must refuse to accept the tag the NDC give us as an ‘Akan party’ through our actions” he told party supporters at the launch of his campaign in Tamale on Monday.

He said the party has a rich history with the Northern people as it was formed and known originally as the Northern People’s Party by stalwarts including SD Dombo, Tolon Naa Yakubu Tali, Alhassan Braimah among others.

The NPP Organiser hopeful added that “we cannot continue to apportion certain seats to the NDC as their reserve and allow them to dominate. This is one of my major concerns. We have mentally imposed such limitations on ourselves. I confidently know that with proper plans and result-oriented strategies in place, no seat will be impossible for us to win”.

Mr Amoako-Twum promised to work towards connecting all other wings of the party including the Communication, Youth, Women and Nasara to ensure coordination amongst the various wings.

This he noted is important towards revitalizing the party’s support base ahead of the 2024 General Elections.

He urged the party’s Delegates to consider him as he believes he is the right candidate to effectively organize the party to go beyond the 8 year cycle of ruling among the NDC and NPP termed internally as ‘Breaking the 8’.
